Christmas is a time to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. The story of Christ’s birth is narrated in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke in the Bible. Born in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago, Jesus entered the world not as a king in a palace, but in humble surroundings—a stable, surrounded by shepherds and animals. This modest beginning marked the inception of a mission that would forever change the course of human history.

This manger scene is a quaint tale of a baby born in Bethlehem, but His purpose was profound and transformative. Jesus came into the world to fulfill a divine plan—to reconcile humanity with God and to bring salvation to all who believe in Him. His teachings emphasize love, compassion, forgiveness, and the importance of serving others.

Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus performed miracles, healed the sick, and preached a message of repentance and redemption. His ultimate sacrifice on the cross, where He willingly gave His life to atone for the sins of humanity, exemplifies the depth of His love and the extent of His mission. Christmas, therefore, serves as a reminder of the profound significance of Christ’s birth and the mission He undertook for the sake of humanity.

Celebrating the Gift of Love

The act of gift-giving during Christmas is symbolic of the greatest gift ever given—the gift of Jesus Christ. In celebrating Christmas, we are not only commemorating an event that occurred in history but acknowledging the ongoing impact of Christ’s mission. The values He espoused—love, compassion, and selflessness—serve as a guide for how we can live meaningful and purposeful lives.

Moreover, Christmas serves as a reminder to reflect on their own lives and to extend the love and generosity exemplified by Christ and life in a place of gratitude all year!

So often, as women we get caught up in all the “work of Christmas” and it adds to our state of overwhelm.  Let’s pause… Breathe… and reflect on the profound impact of Jesus’ birth, life, and sacrifice.

May the spirit of Christmas inspire us all to live out the message of Christ throughout the year, bringing hope and joy to the world.

I loved this little video that was shared in Leslie Householder’s blog Rare Faith.  I wanted to share it here as well!  Let’s delight in the wonderful joy of the blessings we enjoy each and every day!

Wishing you a very merry Christmas!
